چکیده

The total mass attenuation coefficients (μ t ) (cm(2)/g) and atomic, molecular, and electronic effective cross sections have been calculated for nonessential amino acids that contain H, C, N, and O such as tyrosine, aspartate, glutamine, alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, and glycine in the wide energy region 0.015-15 MeV. The variations with energy of total mass attenuation coefficients and atomic, molecular, and electronic cross sections are shown for all photon interactions.

Monte Carlo calculation of shielding properties of newly developed heavy concretes for megavoltage photon beam spectra used in radiation therapy

Introduction: Globally, the need for radiotherapy as a part of cancer management increases every year. Thus, the shielding for megavoltage radiotherapy rooms is of great importance. Materials and Methods: In the present study, 14 types of developed high-density concrete with densities ranging from 2.45 to 5.11 were simulated by using Monte Carlo method. The linear attenuation coefficient and t...

Quantum Chemistry Study & Evaluation of Basis Set Effects on Prediction of Amino Acids Properties:

The potential energy surface of gaseous glycine determined years ago in the ab initio B3LYP/6-311++G** calculations is composed of thirteen stable conformers. We performed the ab initiomolecular orbital calculations as the starting point to carry out a force field and normal coordinatecalculation on the most stable conformer of non-zwitterionic glycine [conformer (I)]. Thecalculations were carr...

Radioiodine D amino acids labeling of Rituximab, a new method for enhancing the radiopharmaceutical targetingand biostability

Introduction: Radioimmunotherapy (RIT) is a very promising new therapy for the treatment of recurrent B-Cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Iodine-131 is the most frequently used nuclide in clinical RIT, but its usefulness has been limited by dehalogenation of monoclonal antibodies labeled via conventional methods. To circumvent this problem, we have synthesized a tr...

Use of gold nanoparticles in MAGIC-f gels to 18 MeV photon enhancement

Objective(s): Normoxic MAGIC-f polymer gels are established dosimeters used for three dimensional dose quantifications in radiotherapy. Nanoparticles with high atomic number such as gold are novel radiosensitizers used to enhance doses delivered to tumors. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) in enhancing percentage depth doses (PDDs) within the MAGIC...

Photon Dosimetry Quality Audit of Radiotherapy Centers in Iran: SSDL's On-Site Visit Program During 2007-2017

Introduction: A dosimetric audit is a quality assurance process (QA) that allows the accuracy of dosimetric and geometric precision to accurately control the delivery of doses. They can be used to evaluate the accuracy of radiation delivery at different radiotherapy centers. Differences in prescriptive doses, depending on the severity of the differences, have potential conseque...
